Hi all

I wanted to ask whether anyone had any advice or experience re. Treatment options for bladder irritation.

I have recently finished treatment for hodgkins lymphoma and was treated using cyclophosomide. I was never given anything like mesna to protect my bladder at this time. Unfortunately I am now getting many symptoms of pain when urinating and unable to gold urine for a length of time.

Can anyone help tell me what may help or rectify this?

Appreciate all the help

  • Hi

I can completely understand why you'd want to be able to get on top of the pain and discomfort you're getting from your bladder.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this in the Hodgkin lymphoma group, which I can see you've joined, as you'll then connect directly with others who may have a similar experience to yourself.

I hope you're able to get sorted really quickly.

  • Hi

In addition to posting in the lymphoma group, you may also find it helpful to post your question in the bladder cancer group. Members there may have some helpful general  advice relating to the irritation, as it’s something that comes up often in relation to particular treatments and procedures for that cancer. Hope you can find something which helps you.

  • Hi Christy1

Bladder Health UK offers information and support for various bladder issues:  https://bladderhealthuk.org/

I was diagnosed with stage 2A squamous cell cervical cancer (node negative) in 2017 following symptoms: persistent, watery, yellow vaginal discharge then post-menopuasal bleeding.  My treatment was a radical hysterectomy followed by chemo-radiotherapy.  My long term side effects include lymphoedema and urinary retention which I manage with intermittent self catheterisation.
