Feeling grateful for the support

Hi all, I have been dealing with the Squamous cell carcinoma treatment for almost two months now and it is really frustrating. I'm having my nose rebuilt after the side of it and part of the cheek were removed. Had two CT scans yesterday and have an appointment with the radiation oncologist next week. I stopped by my employer to say hi and check in and they are very supportive. I'm a truck driver and I miss my job. My operations manager said that the last thing I have to worry about is my job. This made me a little emotional. They are taking really good care of me with the short term disability insurance which is tax free. Just going a little crazy with being around the house.

  • Hiya Terry,

I am on a different path to you, but expect that the emotional rollercoaster is similar?

I know exactly how you feel in regard to going stir crazy while waiting for the next steps, i have been a builder all my life and miss the day to day of how things were.

Really glad that your firm are looking after you, but your Ops Manager is right, whilst the readjustment is difficult we need to channel our energies into getting through our battles, there will be plenty of time for work once we get to the other side if we decide to go back?

I have been overwhelmed with the support which has been forthcoming from many different angles and have taken great strength from that, it definately helps to know people care.

All the best you Trucker !! Grin

    Dave.
