Hi Folks, new to the group. My partner had surgery for bladder cancer, bladder removed, hysterectomy, and now has a stoma. i am in the process of reducing my working hours and flexible working to support my partner. can any group members give information or advice of any other actions i can take, ie financial, to help me support my partner, thanks in advance.
Hi melmac and welcome to the community. You could try posting in the Ask an Expert section where they have financial experts, but it may take a day or so for an answer. Try calling the free Mac helpline on 0808 808 0000 (8-8 pm). They have experts who will be able to advise what help you may be entitled to. As regards bladder cancer, you may like to join us in the Bladder Cancer Group where we have many members who have had removal and living with stomas. Best wishes.
They are a range of benefits that you may possibly be entitled to depending on your circumstances. In my experience accessing a benefits advisor either Macmillan or other charity can be a revelation. The Attendance allowance in particular is heavily undersubscribed but its a very nice and useful benefit. At least check it all out.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
