Imbrance and stopping the drug

My Mother has cancer of the breast, liver and bones. She has stopped taking the Imbrance for the breast as she had no quality of life through depression  and low energy. She still takes the liver medicine and has monthly injections denosumab. She has recently become a widow my Dad died unexpectedly. I am so worried that the cancer will start up again through stopping the medicine. Her markers had improved greatly. I don’t know what to ask the oncologist when I have to go with her next week. We are all so sad about losing my Dad and it’s awful for my Mother. I’m just worried about leaving her and what to watch for as in signs she is unwell. Any advice greatly appreciated. Gaynor

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read all you and your mother are going through at the moment. It must be an incredibly hard time for you both especially losing your dad unexpectedly.

As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups. I think, from what you've said in your post, that your mother is being treated for secondary breast cancer. If this is right, can I suggest that you also join and post in the secondary breast cancer group as this will allow you to connect directly with others who have this type of cancer.

If you'd like to do this, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your mother's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
