Hi All, after some advice.
I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy recently and been told that the report is back after having 5 biopsies and all the receptionist could tell me was that the histology was as they expected.
What could this mean?
Hi Char1 welcome to the forum. I would try and see if you can get an appointment with the GP and discuss the results to see what exactly they meant by that or you could call them back and ask them to explain further for you, neither is an unreasonable way to move forward. Go call them now and save you worrying all weekend when they are closed. xxx
Hi, try not to panic or read anything into the receptionist's comment. It has no meaning either way. They certainly should NOT be giving you results at all! I'm presuming you were recommended the biopsies as the docs were worried about something? Please continue to arrange to see your GP for the results. Good luck x
Hi,
I was referred urgently for the colonoscopy as blood was found in my stool but not visible.
After having a change of bowel habit for a few years back ache and a host of other symptoms which I'd been too ashamed to go to a GP about. They took several biopsies at the colonoscopy. My thyroid has been super overactive and i have an enlarged thyroid so also waiting for the results of a nuclear medical scan to come through. I've also been really aneamic without known cause for years.
I have a GP appointment t on Friday so hoping to know a little more then
Hi Char1 I'm glad you've got a GP appointment, that's as rare as hen's teeth where I live. No appointments at all at our surgery "just triage" they say then put the phone down on you!
Feeling ashamed is normal sadly especially where bowel issue are concerned. Dame Deborah James did so much good work about reducing the stigma around various "non sexy" cancers such as bowel, penile, cervical or vaginal. We have been chatting on another thread about these very issues.
Anyhow you are dealing with it now and that's good so leave the guilt behind Xx. From your mouth to your bottom is all connected as we know so it could be that some symptoms are related. The thyroid gland can have a big effect on our bodies too. It might be worth jotting down a few questions to ask your GP now before the appointment. Can you take someone with you for moral support?
Fingers crossed that all your various symptoms can be sorted out easily. Hope Friday's appointment goes well x
I'm very lucky to have a lovely GP surgery and a fantastic GP. I know many others not so lucky, yourself included.
I've done some research and am going in with questions but the bit of the report she read out before telling me that she wasn't allowed to discuss with patient over the pH was the histology was as SUSPECTED rather than expected. I may be reading too much into it but choice of wording for the report is thought out right?
Being aneamic has just become routine for years for me, before moving to the area we live now my previous surgery didn't ever investigate the cause of the extremely low iron count, even though iron tablets and infusions weren't sustaining my levels. I did get referred for cervical cancer tests as some blood tests came back with some markers showing cell secretion due to cell damage. My current GP has expressed concern that they should have investigated clearly something in the area they are looming now.
I'm 33 , got married on the 29th July with 3 young children, oldest is 12 and youngest is 1 next Tuesday, so want to know what is going on for them as much as me. Wasn't quite the start to married life I was expecting.
Sorry for the rant and thank you so much for your replies.
No worries hon, it's such a difficult and extremely frightening time when we're being investigated for suspicious things. I'm glad you're already prepared with questions.
Congratulations on your marriage, did you get a honeymoon? Any time just for the two of you? Three children must be exhausting hon and all these worries too.
Please never apologise for how you feel. We don't know each other on here and there's no judgement going on. Just be you, you will be supported on these forums. Are you already on the bowel cancer group and/or the gynae cancer group? You do not have to have the diagnosis to be on there and many people will be in your position too so you may get some different, more pertinent advice. It sounds like your current GP is conscientious and thorough so I'm sure they will ensure you get all the follow ups you need. Fingers crossed there are simple explanations for your symptoms hon. Let us know how you get on with your GP in Friday. Xx
