Hi

I don’t really know what to say. I lost one of my closest friends to a rare form of lymphoma almost 2.5 years ago. Now my brother has a form of Nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma at stage 4. Apparently treatable but not curable. Hopefully a full life, just with cycles of chemo and maybe some stuff from me (bone marrow or stem cells) I’m not sure which it’s all still very new.
I’m not sure what I’m asking really. I just thought I needed to write it down.
Sorry if it’s wasting time

Tim

  • Tim,

You came here to learn so how could that be wasting time?  Unfortunately I had a different type of cancer so I don't know the particulars about lymphoma.  All I can say is work with the doctors and see how the situation unfolds.  There are new treatments all the time so it may be curable some day.

  • Hi Tim and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you lost one of your closest friends to a rare form of lymphoma just a couple of years ago and that now your brother has also received a lymphoma diagnosis. It must be an incredibly tough time for you right now and you're certainly not wasting anyone's time by posting on the community.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting a few more for you to consider joining. The first is the Hodgkin lymphoma group which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences around the sort of treatment, etc that your brother might receive. The second group is the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with an incurable cancer.

If you'd like to join both or either of these groups clicking on the links I've created will take you straight there where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about about your brother's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
