My Mum recovered from Breast cancer 4years ago, mastectomy, 6rounds of chemo & is still currently taking Tamoxifen.
she’s found another lump on her other breast. She’s been referred for a biopsy. I’ve already decided it’s cancer, what else would it be? I’ve also already decided it’s spread elsewhere & this time she won’t be so lucky. I can’t be without my Mum, I couldn’t live my life without her, she’s my rock & I don’t feel like a single parent cause I have her. I don’t want her to go through all that pain again, she got sepsis last time & was really poorly! My lovely, sweet amazing Mum. I can’t cope with this.

I don’t know the point of this post, you guys can’t tell me what I already fear I know. But I feel so sick & so anxious. I can’t cope.

  • Hi  and I see it’s your first post so welcome to the Community it’s.

So sorry to hear that your mum is on the diagnosis roundabout again……. and I can understand how you feel but let’s look for this to be nothing or something that can be dealt with quickly.

I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 22 years now and if I had seen my time was up every time a new lump or bump appeared I would have gone crazy.

It’s natural to think the worst but until this is clearly diagnosed it could be anything - the post treatment body is much more reactive and lumps and bumps do come and go.

You may benefit from joining our supportive Family and friends group where you will connect with others supporting family and friends.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear. You may also find our Ask an Expert section helpful but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Talking to people face to face when on a cancer journey (patient or family) can be very helpful but during these strange times it’s not that available but do check to see if any Local Macmillan Support in your area has opened up. Do also check out for a local Maggie's Centre in your area as these folks are amazing.

Always around if you need further help in navigating the community.

    All the very best ((hugs))
