Hello Everyone,

New to this so hoping someone can help me.

My MIL is currently going through chemotherapy for lung cancer and she is having a very very strong dose, so much so she has been wiped out after her sessions for at least a week.Luckily her cancer is treatable and we are hoping after chemo, she will be all clear.

Her birthday is next week and her 3rd chemo session is the day after. I really want to get her something but I am really struggling with ideas. She is 63 but is a young 63. She usually likes wine, eating out etc but she really isn't feeling up to it at the moment. Do I book something for the future although I don't know when she will be more herself to celebrate but also don't want to be empty handed.

If anyone has been through this and found any thoughtful gifts that their loved ones enjoyed whilst going through treatment, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you :)

  • Hello and welcome to the community ,although sorry to hear about your MIL. It is always difficult trying to find presents for people going through treatment. In many cases, people can be too tired to do anything active. When I was going through treatment I didn't have much energy to do anything even reading. I did download some audiobooks which got me through, so may be a short subscription to an audiobook site. You may also like to look at the Family and Friends group where you will find others supporting loved ones . Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • I wonder would she like an alternative therapy session? I know the big C offer some of these but I wouldn’t know which ones would be either suitable or unsuitable but I’m sure they would happily advise.

how does she feel the day before chemo, for me I feel really well by then and would be able to celebrate in style but I know everyone is different.
