Hi I'm new to this group. I am currently undergoing tests for lung cancer I have an appointment on 22nd for my PET scan results. I have had a call today from macmillan nurses as they was asked to call me by my consultant. I haven't had a diagnoses yet so unsure as to why they would call. They also said they will be present at my results appointment

  • Hi I got the same, a call from MacMillian nurse before I got my diagnosis, I thought is strange also,

  • Hi Vicky

I had/have a Mcmillian nurse also. I was diagnosed the same day I went to A&E for severe bleeding (cervical). After that day my Mcmillian nurse was present at all appointments and even came and visited me in the ward.

They are a godsend, full of knowledge and just absolute angels.

    Hi jen

Rely sorry to hear of your diagnosis I'm glad they are being angels to u and looking after u Heart️ I was just confused why they called when I haven't been diagnosed yet and why doctor had asked them to ring I find out on 22nd what's happening keeping my fingers crossed. Really hope your treatment is effective please keep us posted on your recovery x

  • VickyF, I can see you are confused and worrying about the phone call from the Macmillan nurses prior to your diagnosis but they can be involved for support I think during the pre-diagnosis time.

There are people on here who post in the various groups before they have been diagnosed with anything and they all have full access to the Macmillan helpline and info even if their diagnosis turns out to be something benign ie: not cancerous.

Good luck for your PET scan results on the 22nd hon xx

    Hi Louise

Good luck woth your treatment hope every goes OK please keep us updated on your progress and thanks for ur best wishes x

  • Take care and good luck with your treatment hon.  Be brave but that includes crying as crying is a brave thing to do.  Take all your comfort things with you into hospital what ever they are.  Time weighs heavily when you're in there so take distractions if you can, ear plugs in case others snore for instance!

Love and a hug to you for your treatment time hon xx
