Hi,

My mum had womb cancer in 2017 and was diagnosed with metatastic womb cancer to lung in May/June 2021.

My mum started hormone treatment in July 2021, these didn't work and we were told the cancer had progressed (and had spread to the liver and bones).  My mum started chemotherapy treatment in November 2021.

Since being on the chemotherapy my mum has had two spells in hospital - the first was due to a high temperature.  She was treated for "Sepsis query source" - they never got to the bottom of the infection and was never actually told she had sepsis just that that's what they were treating her for.

My mum is currently in hospital again (she was admitted on Thursday last week 10/02/2022) due to being sick, no appetite, hardly drinking anything at all and generally feeling dreadful....this is despite a phone call from her consultant on the 07/02/2022 where he told us there had been a dramatic improvement in the lungs - the chemo has been working).

My mum has had an awful cough for months and months and nobody has ever been able to tell us why?  Is this the condition or something else?  She has had antibiotics after antibiotics after antibiotics - consultant suggests a residual chest infection....but nothing is ever clarified.  I feel so in the dark about everything.

I can't see her in the hospital because no visitors are allowed....my mum is feeling so low, I just don't think people understand the impact on patients of not being able to see their family.

I am constantly trying to guess what is going on....such as...could it be the chemo not being flushed out of her system (her last chemo session was 13th Jan) and this is why she's constantly feeling sick and doesn't feel like eating, if it's an infection why don't the doctors know what the source/cause is....

Is it normal to not be able to establish what the problem is in this situation?  Why does my mum feel so ill constantly - there is just no let up.

I don't really know what I am asking in this chat, I just feel desperate for answers.  Has anyone else experienced any of the above?

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read how poorly your mum is at the moment and it's natural to want answers as to why she feels like she does.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this in the womb cancer group, which I can see you've joined, as you'll then connect directly with others whose womb cancer has spread to their lungs. You might also like to join and post in the secondary lung cancer group and, if this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.

Sending a virtual (((hug))) to you and your mum
