I suffered an exttavasation injury to my hand at my first chemo session. Four months later my hand has still not recovered. Has anyone else had a similar experience.?The plastics team has said there is nothing they can do and I just have to hope it will get better. It has left me feeling very depressed

  • Hi a dn I see it's your first post so welcome to the community. Sorry to hear about the injury to your hand. I had this happen to me during one of my IV antibiotic, it took a few days but it clear up.

Yet is always good to talk with others who have had the same treatment for the same cancer but you don’t say what type of cancer you have but if you care to have a look through this list you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.

You can then join the best group, put up a post and this may well widen your search for answers.

You could also put Extravasation into the search tool Mag right near the top and look at the older posts and as always you can hit reply and see if the members are still on the site.

There is always the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information or just a listening ear.

You may also find our Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section helpful but do allow a few working days for a reply.
