I have be taking letrozole hormone therapy after a lumpectomy I have been taking it 4 months and I feel I have aged so much with aches and pains is this normal ?
Hi , could I suggest that you put the same post up in the Breast cancer group that I see you have already joined as this will open up your question up to a much wider group of people who are having the same treatment.
I agree with you I started taking letrozole in August. My hands are swollen and hard to move, my knees ache, my shoulders are hard to move. I feel like since get g diagnosed last June I have aged 20 years. I am really struggling to cope
Thank God I don’t feel like I am a hypochondriac I am not imagining it, thank you for commenting! ️
Hi
Did your symptoms start straight away? I’ve been on it for 3 weeks! Been taking at bedtime as I did some reading and this seemed to help limit effects. I don’t fall asleep very easily and wake up during the night ! Which is strange as I’m so sleepy around tea time! Wondering if the tablets are why. I am taking vitamin D tablets as I have found them really helpful for joint pain in the past and they seem to be helping as did get some stiffness initially.
Hope things are easing for you.
xx
Hi Rinie53
i have been in them nearly 4 months apart from low mood sleepless nights and hot sweats I was ok in 1st 3 months , but have pain every day and stiffness , I take mine around 11am. I have been to doctor about my low mood and told her it was because of constant pain which seems to be worse at rest and in bed at night, she has prescribed me an anti-depressant that she said will help with low mood and pain called sertraline I havnt started taking them yet! Will let you know how I get on! I also take vitamin D.
Hope you’re OK hope they don’t effect you as bad in the same way! X
Hi tree branch
I was taking letrozole before my mastectomy and after and i felt the same i aged 20 yerars in months , i changed to another brand and still felt the same . At christmas i had a break and felt back to nomal although a bit anxious as not on meds. I kept a diary and took with me when i saw my consultanr last week. we weighd up the risks for me not taking any meds and im glad to say im not at the moment. I feel i have my life back yes i do think about it but im being kept an eye on as im low risk . I couldnt function at the time and now im recovered from all the surgery i feel back to normal.I had my surgery and reconstuction 3rd Feb last year 3 days after my 60th birthday this years was alot better .
