Struggling to eat as l just have no appitite whatsoever. I heard it is best to have small meals rather than one large. What do you eat and how do you try and stimulate your appitite.

  • Hi  and I see this is your first post so a very warm welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about the challenges you are having with your appetite and eating.

I was the same for a good 4 months following my last treatment and yes, small regular meals are the way forward.

I basically lived on scrambled eggs for breakfast then regular small cups of good liquidised home made soups with double cream mixed through. I moved on to small plates of Mince-beef and Mash again with cream mixed through the mash.

Mindless snacking on nuts, energy bars..... It's all about getting protein into your body as protein is fuel and fuel is energy.

I see you have joined our Breast, secondary cancer group. Why not put up the same post there as this will widen your audience - all the best.

  •  Hi,It is hard.I had no appetite after surgery for bladder cancer.I was very underweight.I could only eat tiny amounts to begin with.Bread was too filling but I managed sandwich thins with cheese or meat.I had soup, potato cakes, cheese and savoury biscuits, small amounts of fruit, yoghurts, mousses, rice puddings. After a while I was able to eat jacket potatoes and small sized meals.Eating little but often should help you to build up to larger amounts.I regained all the weight I lost in hospital plus more in lockdown.Best wishes Jane
