I have been in remission for a year now. I had ovarian cancer and had to have 2 operations, one including a total hysterectomy and chemotherapy. I went through all of this during covid times too so basically had to do it all alone! I am only 39 and was constantly told how young I was to have the type of cancer I had and had a unusual hystology. I have no children and I have always wanted them. I know that I am very lucky for recovering and how well I have recovered and am back at work. However I recently am struggling with the emotion of everything, with the changes in my body, the pines and needles, lack of sleep and also the surgically induced menopause. I feel guilty for being upset and angry and frustrated as well. I just wondered if anyone else can relate to this!
Hi , I see its your first post so welcome to the Online Community although I am so sorry to hear about how you are struggling post your treatments..... unfortunately this happens to a lot of people.
You may want to join our Life after cancer group as there are a number of folks active in this group who have first hand experience of this part of the journey.
Just copy and paste the text from this post into a new post in the Life after cancer group and see who is looking in ((hugs))
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm glad to read that you're recovering well from your treatment for ovarian cancer.
As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting a couple more for you to join and post in. The first is the ovarian cancer group which is a great place to chat to others who have had this type of cancer and who may also be experiencing the same post treatment problems.
The second group is the life after cancer group which is for people who have finished treatment and what to discuss things like the physical and emotional after effects of cancer, returning to work, or trying to move on with your life.
To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
