I am always hearing discussions on television about all types of cancer but nothing about Oesophagal cancer, I feel that more should be discussed about early signs and symptoms, as I thought my signs were simply a hiatus hernia or at worst an ulcer. To be diagnosed with Oesophagal cancer hit me like an express train, I had heard nothing about it until then. I have contacted television companies about this but heard nothing back. After chemo and major surgery I am now in my 2nd year of recovery and doing well.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm glad to hear that you're doing well after treatment for oesophageal cancer and I think you're right that it is a cancer that you don't hear much about.
As you know the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join the oesophageal cancer group where you could chat to others about your thoughts on getting oesophageal cancer more publicity.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'. To save you typing this all out again you could copy and paste it from here into your new post in the breast cancer group.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
