I had a TURBT in August and had bladder tumour scoured out...I had chemo via catheter before I went home.
I am due and time to have my 2nd COVIDT as although my cancer has not spread from bladder - It is aggressive which means more likely to come back, so TURBT seems will be a way of life. I coped with this but what happened next really shook me --
I went to GP with what I thought was a toe injury but after examination she told me "this needs referring to hospital," It was referred under the two week rule. So I got a telephone call after 4 weeks offering me an appointment for TOMORROW at a hospital 25 miles from where I live at 8AM.. My grown up children all live in other towns and I had nobody to run me, I do drive but I sleep very poor and to get up very early to make that appointment would have meant driving while tired... I told her this and she has got me an appointment in my home town on New Years Eve -
My point is I was right not to attempt to drive at that time with limited sleep - BUT the appointment was over two weeks and I have delayed it by another two weeks, although I thought it right, if I have skin cancer which seems probable and it spreads, I am in trouble
In short I feel very down, got one cancer seems to be under control and it seems likely I have another, I feel my life is being ruled by cancer,,,,
Hi ern007,I’m sorry to hear you have a problem with your toe in addition to your bladder tumour. You would be welcome to join us over in the bladder cancer group. It is a friendly supportive board.I think you did the right thing in getting another appointment,it wouldn’t have been good to have driven when tired. An extra 2 weeks wait should be ok.If it was months it might be more worrying.Best wishes for your appointment.Jane
Thank you winkers60 - I am glad someone thinks it's correct to wait an extra two weeks, rather than be a danger on the road, which at that time, I probably would have been.
Yes I will come over to the Bladder Cancer Forum, thank you for the invite.
Ernest
Hi and another welcome to the online community
I hope you take up the suggestion of winkers60 to join the bladder cancer group as there's nothing like talking to others who have the same type of cancer and who will understand what you're going through.
I noticed that you also mentioned that you were being investigated for skin cancer on your toe and thought I'd provide you with links to the skin cancer and melanoma groups where you could chat to others who are currently waiting for biopsies on lesions and moles. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the appropriate link will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
