Hi brand new to this
My dad lives in Spain and has done for forever but I live in the UK. My dad has been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer that has metastasis.. he has started chemo infact it was his second dose today.. the oncologist has said if he doesn't have chemo he has 3 to 6 months to live but will not know what the chemo has done till round 3 to 4... it's so hard I'm up against a language barrier and being so far away plus not knowing the system... the system seems so anti quainted here in spain.. Its breaking my heart I feel like I'm nagging him constantly about eating and drinking and I know it's so important to do this but hes not eating and hardly drinking I just dont know what to do. They dont have Macmillian over in Spain that I'm aware of???
I'm fearful that I'm not gonna have a dad soon.. I'm never going to have those special moments walking down the isle ect.. I feel so lost and cant even comprehend what he must be feeling I want to reach into him and drag the evil disease out of him I know everyone says there dad is amazing and such a nice person..mine is exactly that
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that your dad has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and I do understand what a worrying time this will be for the whole family.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the oesophageal cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences around treatment, etc, and also the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions.
To join these groups just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'. To save you typing this all out again you could just copy and paste it into your new post.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
x
