My partner had his bladder removed on the 25th August, my partner chose the ilenois conduit (apologies for spelling) he also had his prostate removed. He was only meant to be in hospital for a week tops! He ended up in hospital for 3 weeks .. he ended up with a fistula and needed to give his bowels a break.. he then contracted covid and ecoli. He wasn't given food or fluid for 3/4 days, he lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass, they decided to put a pick line and started him on TPN! He had a drain bag which was draining this fowl smelling green stuff... eventually he came home, he was not OK..  he nearly collapsed.. we took him to the GP, we found out that his HB is so low he would need a blood transfusion. He went to hospital and needed 4 units of blood. We then found out after he came out of hospital which was another 2 weeks ... he had sepsis and the only reason we found out was because it was on his discharge letter ... we have a 2 Yr old daughter and its affected her so much. Thanks for reading my story ...

  • Hi .  I just dropped by and noticed you've not had a reply here as yet but you have had a reply in the Bladder cancer group.

I'm so sorry to read what a hard time you and your partner have had with post op problems after his bladder was removed. Sometimes things are straightforward, yours was a horror story. I sincerely hope things have improved somewhat and things are a little better.
