On August 25th my partner had his bladder and prostate removed, due to Stage 3 bladder cancer. He chose the ilenois conduit ( apologies for the spelling) what was meant to be a week in hospital turned in to 3 weeks and him nearly dying. He endured covid, a tear and fistula! He didn't eat or drink for 4 days ! Eventually a pick line was put in and a TPN started. He then contracted ecoli ... eventlly he came home .. but not for long! He was so very poorly we took him to the doctors in which his GP said he needed to go straight to hospital for a blood transfusion. 4 units of blood and a diagnosis sepsis .. he was in hospital for another 2 weeks ! He lost a considerable amount of weight and muscle mass . Finally he is home now but its been a hard and lengthy process .. things still aren't great, our 2yr old will not settle for him at all , very clingy towards me .. its affected her massively. We have a consultation on the 25th of November to start chemo .. I'm scared!
This is such a difficult situation for you all. I am so sorry to hear about it. I hope that life gets much, much easier and soon. I will be thinking of you.
Hi Mimi250294
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that your partner has bladder cancer. You might find it useful to join the Bladder Cancer forum where you will get support from people who have the same type of cancer as your partner. I'm including the link to the forum here https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/bladder-cancer-forum. There is also a carer's only forum which you can join to get support from other carers.
