My mum has recently started chemotherapy and we’ve been told about the risks of infection. For those that have lived with someone doing chemo did you go out at all? See friends, restaurants etc?Staying indoors seems depressing but don’t want to be selfish at all.
Hello and welcome to the community. You are right in that it is important to avoid infections when undergoing chemo treatment, and even more so during the current Covid situation. I was the one who had chemo, but my family were aware of the risks and kept their distance. Although taking precautions is important, it needs to be balanced with as normal as life as possible. My wife did the shopping in the quiet hours when fewer people were around. Hygiene, distancing and few visitors were the name of the game. Children, especially need to be kept at a distance if possible as they tend to bring home bugs from school. We did go out for drinks and meals now and again, but on the quiet nights and kept in corners away from people. I hope all goes well for mum. Best wishes.
