Hello all. My partner was diagnosed with terminal stomach and esophagus cancer nearly 2 weeks ago. She had a stent operation to enable her to eat. Now back home after 1 week and she cannot eat. Very thin and I am finding it difficult to cope. So distressing seeing her like this. She has a palliative nurse who is wonderful.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community although I'm sorry you've had to find us.

I can only begin to imagine how distressing it must be for you to see your partner struggling but you've joined the right community to talk to others in a similar situation to yourself and to give and receive support.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you also join and post in the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions with others who have someone with an incurable diagnosis.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you feel up to it it would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
