Cults And Quacks And Cancer

I recently had two dangerous operations which saved me from the ravages of my bowel cancer.  I wanted to read up on the subject but I found I didn't have much literature on cancer other than various handly pamphlets from the hospital and MacMillan  - The only volume I found on the shelf here at home is a dire book on an obscure cult which claimed even on the cover to be able to cure cancer through veganism and its own brand of spiritualism.  As an ex-member of an unrelated cult I have quite a lot of books relating to cults and brainwashing. Most laughably book which came out in 1977 claims Jesus was reborn in 1976 and that we will all see him on his 16th birthday (I must have overslept that day in 1992). Looking them up I found they got unexpected funding through Frank Serpico, the American police corruption whistle-blower featured in the Al Pacino film) who retreated to Wales and joined the cult after he got shot - he later left the movement but still bears them no ill-will. They now operate from Scotland  - Please always avoid cancer advice from quacks like these.

  • Hi . I just want to thank you for giving me such a laugh - you're post is the sort I'll remember at various times of the day and start giggling, much to the concern of the person behind me in Lidl's checkout queue - that's if there's anything left to queue up to pay for!

Long may your sense of fun bubble up to the surface!

Thank you and hugs, B xx
