Hello i had a quick query in case anyone has been in a similar situation.

My mum has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, shes undergoing radio and soon chemo. Today we have received a letter stating shes to evict her current property within 4 months as the landlord wants to take possession of the property. She has been paying her rent on time and to the full amount ever since she has lived at the address and the letter doesn't state much else aside from the reason being "landlord wants to take possession of the property". Its a difficult situation as she lives quite a distance from my self (as otherwise id take her in a heartbeat) and she has quite a few animals. Im curious as to whether there are any laws protecting cancer sufferers from evictions. The property has been kept in good condition and shes never had issues with the landlord, we're not looking to affect the landlord negatively, however were all not in the best of circumstances either.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi DanTuck93 welcome to the forum and I am so sorry to hear about what is happening for you all that's awful and just what you don't need at this time.

Please pick up the phone and speak to the people at Macmillan as they may have advice for you that can help with this and you need that advice sooner rather than later they are there every day until 8pm on  08088080000.

It sounds like the landlord wants to sell the property or move back in themselves hence the eviction notice but  its not the best word to use  and Im wondering if they knew of the circumstances would they make other arrangements or delay.
