My dad has liver & lung cancer & also diabetic type 2. I'm currently caring for him & it's so hard. I've woke up to him talking to himself & I just think I'm doing something wrong. I don't know what to do? Anybody else been through this?

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I haven't been in your position, as I was the one with cancer, but I can imagine how difficult it must be for you right now.

Talking in your sleep is quite common, apparently I do it occasionally according to my husband, and I don't think it means that you're doing anything wrong. However, if you're worried by this you could always speak to your dad's CNS.

As you know the community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions with others who are caring for someone living with cancer. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.

It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment so far in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
