My husband has deteriorated rapidly over the last couple of weeks and is pushing me away . I try to be affectionate with him but he is pushing me away he is now sleeping on a hospital bed downstairs and doesn’t like it when I sit or lie down by him. I try to stay downstairs with him as I have a put up bed and sofa but he tells me to go away. I don’t feel like his wife anymore, He has acknowledged he is getting like this and just says for me to go away as he doesn’t want to think about me. I am his only carer and he wants to die at home. I feel so upset, lonely and beside myself. Is it normal for people with advanced cancer to push their loved ones away?
Hi Gentlewaves
Sorry to hear about your husband. While I can't answer your question there are a couple of forums you can join to get help and support. They are: Carers only forum, and the family and friends forum. You could also ring the Macmillan helpline for advice.
Hope this helps;
Best wishes

Hi
Navigating the online community can be a little tricky at first so I thought I'd pop in and give you a direct link to the carers only group that Daisy53 mentioned in her reply to you.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
To find your previous posts first click on your username. Then on the page that opens click on activity. This will bring up a list of your posts with the most recent one at the top of the page. To see everything you've posted scroll right down to the bottom of the page, passed the green banner as that will make all you previous activity load onto the page.
If you have any further difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
