My husband has deteriorated greatly in the last two weeks. It is horrible seeing his symptoms getting worse, he has lost so much weight, very fatigued and doesn’t want to do anything. He has got a bed downstairs and although he can still walk upstairs has decided he wants to sleep down as says more comfortable as the head of bed tilts. I suddenly feel that it is real and feel really upset, lonely and rejected I hate it that we are not sharing a bed anymore. It feels like he is drifting away from me , I imagined that we would still cuddle to the end but he doesn’t seem at all upset/wanting this. He has always remained upbeat about his diagnosis and accepted his fate, I have found this very difficult all along and now it is terrible, a nightmare that I am struggling to cope with.

  • Hi

I'm very sorry to read that your husband has deteriorated greatly in the last couple of weeks. This must be a very hard time for you both.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post in the supporting someone with incurable cancer group where you'll connect directly with others who have a family member or friend with an incurable diagnosis. It's a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions as well as practical issues about palliative care. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))
