Hi I am new to this forum, and this group was suggested to my by the moderators, we got the god awful news my wee dad who was 80 yesterday, his Bowel cancer Has spread, to his bladder, lymph glands and Stomach, we thought he was given the all clear last year, when he had most of his bowel removed and a Stoma bag fitted.
so we are reeling from the news this week that he is basically being sent home to die! they are giving him care at home, with nurses coming in dally to change his stoma bags ( he has two now!) and to bathe him twice a week.
my step mum who is in her late 70's is coping with having to give him Morphine 4 times a day, with other doses if he needs it! We have not been told by the hospital how long he has, i we as a family are really struggling to cope the news. I am trying to be the strong daughter around my dad, but I am crumbling inside.
I know that everyone one on here is the same as i am struggling to cope with this news, I have got the ripe old age of 55 and apart from losing my younger brother, ( Not cancer related) the is the first time this dreadful disease has reared its ugly head in my family!!
thanks for listening.
