we found out this week my wee dad who was 80 yesterday that the bowel cancer he had last year has returned. He was given the all clear! He has now been sent home after we were told it’s too advanced now.
he had Two Stoma bags which nurses will be coming in to do every day. We have nurses coming in twice a week to do bathing. He lives with his partner, and she has to administer his Morphine 4 times a day. But more if he needs it!! I’m still trying to as you can imagine getting my head round this. I don’t know how long he will be okay? The doctors could not tell us how long he has? I feel so helpless!!
sorry for the long post
Gill
Hi Gill and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that your dad has recently discovered that his bowel cancer has returned and it's natural to struggle with what this means.
I hope you don't mind me recommending a couple of other groups for you to join. The first is the bowel cancer group, where you can ask questions and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer, and the second is the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions.
To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
x
