Hello
I have a lot of cancer in my family. I’m the past 3 years, my sister died of leukaemia, my dad 3 months later of BC. Last year my brother died of Grade 4 Glioblastoma in 6 weeks and my other sister is now in the middle of double breast cancer treatment! Even writing that down seems unbelievable to me…..
As a result of all this my GP has said I have a high risk of malignancy. This is an odd thing to be told as it’s so general but feels quite foreboding. I’m just wondering if anyone else is living with a cancer ‘diagnosis’ like this and how you get your head around knowing that this is a strong possibility for your future.
I appreciate this is not as serious as an actual diagnosis but would just appreciate some advise / support if anyone has any.
Many thanks
Luc
Hi Luc welcome to the forum and I can appreciate how worried that you are and why.
I think that you need to go back and speak to that GP and ask them if you can have some genetic testing which may help to determine what the risk is for you and at least give you some evidence to back up a throw away comment like that.
Please come back and let us know what they say as I would have thought that you would be a strong candidate for this to be done or at least you being monitored.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
