  • Hi c ahmed, I am so sorry to hear about your dads diagnoses.

Lung cancer has come a long way in recent years, and there are lots of treatments now available. Not everyone is offered lung surgery, it really does depend on where the tumour is in the lung, and the general health of the patient. Only your Dad's Oncologist will be able to tell you why surgery is not an option. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be very successful treatments for lung cancer.  You may want to join the lung-cancer-forum where there are several people who are having treatment for lung cancer. Once you know which chemotherapy your Dad is having, you can ask if anyone there has had experience of it.

It is very scary when a family member receives a cancer diagnoses, and the fear of what is ahead, but talking to others who are in a similar situation to yourself does help you through this difficult time. There are also a couple of support forums on the community you can join.

    Family and friends

    Carers only

You will find several people there who are going through a similar situation to yourself.  You can also call the Macmillan support helpline for support 7 days a week from 8am til 8pm on 0808 808 00 00

I hope your Dad doesn't have too long to wait until he gets his treatment plan.

    Take care
