I am new in here... I have been recently diagnosed with OC stage III C hgsc and positive BRCA. I started doing chemo treatment with carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. I've had my second chemo cycle and on the 4th of May I'll have the third one. My diagnosis is very scary because there are other organs affected. My colon, liver, diaphragm, omentum, peritoneum, and possibly 2 lymph nodes near aorta? ... As I had received the diagnosis through the phone, I have never met my oncologist which makes me feel a little bit neglected. Since I have been diagnosed, I only received 3 calls from my oncologist. I do not find this thing normal. I have never seen the result of my CT scan. I only know there will be 3 cycles of chemo, then CT scan and depending on the result, if the tumors shrunk, there will be debulking surgery with another 3 cycles of chemo after. I have some nasty side effects from chemo (especially bone pain in my long bones of my legs is killing me). I don't know what to expect and if it's normal during these times (Covid), not to meet your oncologist. I've been told that my diagnosis is not curable but treatable. That's really terrifying and makes you think at the worst scenario. If anyone of you with the same diagnosis feels like chatting ... I would really appreciate. Thank you x
Hi and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community but sorry that you needed to find us and I am especially sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Although I had a different type of cancer, any cancer diagnosis brings many questions, lots of confusion and stress but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey will help you navigate this rollercoaster.
The Community is organised into dedicated support groups so I would suggest you join our supportive Ovarian cancer group, this will be a good place to connect with others navigating the same type of cancer journey.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time.
It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Hi there!! I’m new On here too, different cancer to yours mines cervical, but still a gynae cancer. Mines stage 4 was told incurable but treatable. It’s affected other organs liver and peritoneum. Just finished chemo carboplatin/paclitaxel. Which actually super charged me. I felt like a new woman. I suffered a few side affects such as hair loss tingling in fingers. And bone pain. For me I just try and keep as active and healthy and positive as possible, I’m walking, lifting weights at the gym ( the clinical nurse told me it’s a great idea to build muscle because you have that to draw from when your having a bad day. Plus it perks you right up. I’m trying to eat healthy plenty of green leafy veg lots of fruit, protein, I’m taking vitamins etc, so far it seems to help. Don’t get me wrong I have my bad days where I feel utterly fed up and low, but I give my head a shake and think I’m lucky I’m still relatively healthy despite everything, I believe being positive really helps. I like yourself didn’t meet my consultant until the end of chemo. So you might find the same, but she has a plan in place for me which I found reassuring, as I convinced myself they were going to write me off. Here if you feel like chatting.

Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community. I see you've joined the Cancer Chat Forum.
It might also be a good idea to join Cervical cancer group as well. Then you will connect with others who have had the same cancer. Your positive attitude to what's happened to yourself would uplift others just starting their journey.
The Macmillan Support Services also provide lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen.
