Good evening. My Auntie has juse been diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to her spine. She has just had radiotherapy and will be starting chemo soon. Obviously with the current pandemic we can’t support as we would like to. I’m just after advice on how we can best help and support her. We are a very close family and I feel lost at the moment as I just want to hug her Disappointed relieved

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your auntie has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to her spine but it's great that you want to find ways that you can support her.

As you have found, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend a couple more for you to join. The first is the secondary breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about the treatment that your aunt might be receiving.

The second group is the family and friends group where you can share your feelings and get support from others who have someone living with cancer.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop what you know about your aunt's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
