I woke up with pain in my left shoulder about 6 weeks ago. I thought I had slept funny but the pain has been getting increasingly worse. It’s gone down my arm and into my elbow. I’ve not injured myself but I have never had pain like it. It wakes me up every night and I have to get up. The gp has prescribed naproxen which just takes the edge off. She doesn’t know whats wrong with my arm as the muscle strength is good. She referred me to a physio and said she could refer me for an ultasound. We decided I would try physio first. I went on Friday and she could find nothing wrong either. I mentioned the ultrasound and she said I didn’t need one. She did agree to send me for an xray which I am having tomorrow.
My dad had bone cancer so it’s on my mind. I have m.e. so I am always tired. I have psoriasis too which has gotten a lot worse over the last few months. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Hi loolabelle
I'm very sorry to read about the pain you have in your shoulder but you've done the right thing in going to see your GP.
It's natural that you should worry that you my have the same bone cancer that your dad did but I would think the pain could be caused by any number of things and hopefully not cancer related.
If you want to see if others who have bone cancer had the same symptoms as you, could I suggest that you also post this in the bone cancer group which I can see you're a member of. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.
You might also find it helpful to take a look at this information from Macmillan on the signs and symptoms of bone cancer.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could update your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar problem. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile', 'Edit Profile' and then save the changes.
Let us know how you get on with your x-ray tomorrow.
