  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear that you have achy and painful bones and you're feeling really tired after your first session of chemotherapy.

I can't answer your question but hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this in the ovarian cancer group, which I can see you're a member of. I'm sure the lovely ladies over there will have some experiences to share with you.

If you'd like to do that, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight to that group.

I hope you begin to feel better soon.

Sending a gentle ((hug)) your way.

  • Hey

Sorry to hear you're having issues at the moment with painful bones. I have painful bones due to cancer being in them, rather than through chemo, so I'm not sure if the things that help me will help you or not.

However, Ibuprofen is a godsend and really helps. When it gets worse, I upgrade through various painkillers to match the pain level as well. Rest works too, just to relieve the pressure on certain areas. I've also got myself a 6' pillow for my bed. It's tucked under my sheet to lie against and half on when I go to bed. It takes the pressure off when I lie on my side as it takes some of the weight. Makes it much more comfortable to sleep, and I stay asleep longer too.

I'd also suggest posting in the chemo group. Your issue isn't an ovarian one, but a chemo problem. So you'll get more help and ideas from everyone who has had chemo in that group, so many more ideas and experiences. I'm afraid I'm on my phone so I can't easily link. But I'm sure someone, like latchbrook, will be able to help you out with that.

  • Hi

Here's a link to the chemotherapy group that Lass suggested that you post your question in. Just click on the link and then select 'join this group' on the page that opens.

    Hi Uplift

Sorry that you have such pains - I was the same after my 1st chemo. I couldn't get comfortable at all & it kept me awake. Couldn't get through the day without multiple short snoozes taken just after painkillers. I took the maximum safe dose of paracetamol and also took ibuprofen at the mid-point between paracetamol doses. It helped a bit & the pains did get better after about a week.

You should definitely discuss this with your oncologist before your next chemo. I ended up with a different dose of steroids and a reduced dose of taxol and after that I was OK. Still had some aching but it was not too bad and didn't keep me awake.

    Good luck.
