I have invasive lobular breast cancer  positive. I recently had lumpectomy and lymph mode removal. I found out yesterday that there are no cells in lymph mode which means it hasn't travelled which is very good news, but at the same time my consultant said they found pre cancerous cells in the margin area. my consultant said unfortunately I will need a mastectomy. As you can imagine  it was very upsetting and for me quite devastating news. I've have  just been prescribed letrozole medication. I'm not even sure at this stage what type of mastectomy will be performed for this type of cancer. I understand that if I choose to have  breast reconstruction i will be waiting for more than 3 to 4 months also the corona virus has affected a lot of procedures is  there anyone that has gone through this experience and can offer any help and advice. How long can the precancerous cells be kept from multiplying.

  • Hi

I'm very sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you'll have to have a mastectomy at some point.

Could I recommend that you join the very friendly breast cancer group where you'll be able to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
