Corona takes priority over Cancer

Bad news for me today. My planned treatment is 4 rounds of chemo , then an operation to remove part or all of my gullet , then 4 more rounds of chemo to 'mop up' any cancer cells that were missed in the op. So was getting prepped for my 3rd round of chemo today and was told that my operation my be cancelled to give a bed to a Corona Virus victim If so then my cancer will just grow back so what they are thinking is to extend the chemo to 8 sessions to hold it at bay and maybe by that time the Corona MIGHT have subsided and I MIGHT get a bed and operation - but they wouldn't be able to give any chemo after the op . (which up to now they said was an essential part of the op)
Who made the decision that some Corona Virus persons life was more important than mine ? A bit cross to say the least.

  • I believe it comes down to who needs it most in that moment.

Someone with covid 19 who needs hospitalised, needs hospitalised. There's no 2 ways about it. Whereas for people like yourself, you have other options to delay you needing that hospital bed.

So rather than trying to decide whose life is more important - because the answer is you aren't more important than them, and they aren't more important than you - you should be looking at it as a matter of need, and someone who needs to be hospitalised with covid-19 has a greater need of that bed in that moment than you do.

We all need to be thinking and working as a society at the moment, not as individuals. Thinking as individuals is how we've ended up with the scenes in the supermarket of people with FAR too much and people with nothing.

My planned operation to remove lymph nodes was cancelled too. I too feel a little resentful coronavirus patient priority over someone with cancer. My cancer is aggressive so by the time if things calms I could be inoperative or my cancer could spread like a fire shortening my life expectancy- I'm incurable so every treatment is to prolong life....What also is making me cross is media coverage is all about empty supermarket shelves and not effects of hospital decisions on people like us

Hi Gretchibald I fully understand you.I am having chemo treatment but I am worried they will stop it and if they stop it I will die.I know I am incurable but we all deserve a chance to fight the cancer.

I have a lymphoedema in my right arm i was waiting 3 month to be seen by a specialist and they cancelled my appt because of the virus.I don't think its right. My right arm is hurting me but nobody can help me.

Is nothing wrong to be selfish I fully understand you.
