Hi all. I’ve just been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and was wondering if the treatment is going to knock me sideways. I’m a fairly fit 44 year old male. Or I was.
Hi
Sorry to see you joining us here, but it's a great place to find yourself at a tough time.
Suppose you are referring to chemo rather than surgery knocking you sideways ? The way chemo affects you is very individual; some cope quite well with few side effects while others can find it a rocky road to get through.
Would be better if you posted this question as a new discussion in the Lung Group (link) you joined mentioning (if you know) the chemo drugs regime you will be placed on - as there are several different chemo drugs that can be used.
My wife had 6 sessions of chemo but this was for breast cancer and the overriding side effect for her was fatigue and joint aches from day 4 to day 10 out of 21 days - Her chemo sessions were every 3 weeks.
Hope this is of some help but this 'Chat' group covers just about everything so you need info that is more lung cancer specific.
Take care, G n' J
