Hi, I'm hoping for some advice. My dad has been having chemo over recent months for oesophogeal cancer - fortunately the treatment worked really well and he was told at the beginning of November that the tumour could no longer be detected on the scan which obviously was great news. Whilst on the chemo he suffered very few side effects and was able to eat quite well and put back on 3 stone of the 5 he'd lost, but since the chemo has stopped he has been feeling constantly nauseous and is off his food so we're really concerned that he will start to lose some of that weight. Is post-treatment nausea common? And if yes, do you have any idea how long these syptoms might last? I obviously appreciate that everyone is different but any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you
Hi and welcome to the online community
That's great to hear that your dad's treatment has worked really well and that the tumour can no longer be detected. However, it's not such good news that he's constantly feeling nauseous.
I don't have any experience with this type of cancer or chemotherapy treatment but I'm sure the people over in the oesophagus cancer group will be happy to share their experiences with you.
To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then post your question after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear that your dad is suffering some post treatment issues.
I had a totally different cancer with a completely different treatment but post treatment nausea lasted for a good few months post treatments but I was also on some bad meds at the time.
Can I direct you to this link to our very supportive Gullet (oesophagus) cancerrain tumour group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what he is going through at the moment.
Just follow the link I have created then hit the ‘Join This Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.
All the best.
Thank you for your reply - I will join the oc group and update my profile

Hi Peggy123 so sorry to hear that you are still suffering with neuropathy plus nureopathic itch. I have no experience of nureopathic itch but my peripheral nureopathy lasted a good few years after my treatment started - mostly in my hand but some n my feet.
You may want to post this in the Lung Cancer support group as you may get more answers as this post is a good few years old.
