  • Hi, SFin26 .welcome to the community tho I expect it's the last place you want to be. I'm sorry to hear how u feel right now

U might find u get more responses if u repost this in the Emotional issues group, or  even the Life after cancer group

The Chat group is mainly for talking about non-cancer related things tbh, ie when we get fed up of talking about cancer. I've even chatted about cricket would u believe

How about adding a bit to your profile too, to save keep repeating yourself?

  • Hi , when I became clear of cancer I thought I’d be celebrating that fact more so I can understand how you feel. I found I had to work on my fatigue. I found a poster in a local shop for local walks for health, I joined the walking group and always had to trail at the end and sometimes I did a short cut back with one of the leaders as I couldn’t manage it. It was good to get out and try and have a natter on the walk. I found I got introduced to a few other people recovering from having cancer. I also went into my local Macmillan information and support booth in the hospital and they had a booklet on life after treatment. Reading that it inspired me to try out their move more exercises on a dvd I could do at home, and it also mentioned walking netball, so I found a group who did that and have been going ever since. I heard about a Macmillan course that I thought I could do on living well but the wait was a bit to long for me and it then clashed with my Netball but the HOPE course is meant to be good to help people feel more normal again. Do they have anything like that or a Maggies near to where you are ?

I noticed this was your first post so I can see why has suggested some other groups for you. The Life after Cancer group is full of people with all different cancers talking about emotional or physical effects after treatment and wanting to move forward, I’ll put the link in for you.

It may also help joining the group for your own cancer type, I found giving my experience to others who were about to go on some of the same drugs as me helped them and helps me come to terms with the experience aswell. I’m assuming it’s bowel cancer so I’ll put that link in.

I hope you don’t mind all the links and hope you get as much out of the community as I have. You might find completing your profile helps people to answer some of your posts as well as helps you not to repeat too much. The HELP section gives some hints on doing that.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks KTatHome.

Incidentally I've been on the HOPE course, albeit 6 years ago. I found it very helpful

  • Hi , I met a lovely lady at a Macmillan cancer voices conference about a month ago, who did a Hope course and then she became one of the joint facilitators. If she is anything to go by I’m sure I’d find it useful it’s been on my to do list for a while.
