I was diagnosed with Adenoid cystic carcinoma in my right salivary gland. Had surgery and a high dose of 33 sessions of radiotherapy This was between Dec 2016 and Apr 2017.
I recently found a lump under my tongue and have been struggling to swallow food without having water to wash it down.
Unfortunately my biopsy results showed that the ACC has returned.
Has anyone else had it return and what was your procedure?
I've been told I will need surgery but instead of from the outside, it's going to be from inside my mouth and may involve a skin graft. I'm so scared. Just wanted to know other people's experiences of this sort of surgery.
I've been told no more radiotherapy which I'm relieved about!
Any info will be helpful.
Thank you
Vicki (35 yrs old, Leeds)
Hello . Sorry you find yourself back here after all this time. I have no knowledge of your condition, but could I suggest you also post your concerns in the Head and Neck Group where there is a better chance of someone with experience of this. There is also the more specific ACC group but that group seems fairly quiet. Best wishes.
