hi
my father has prostate cancer and we were told he will die of old age before this cancer but hes had a bone scan to see if its spread hes had a scan and that was clear
i just feel confused as theres alot of contradicting advise we had from several nurses ( not that the asigned nurse has ever called my dad back !)
so can anyone tell us the chances of it being spread to the bones as advise we have had is all diffrent

Can I suggest you give the helpline a call and talk rough your questions with them.
The number is 0808 808 0000 and they are there weekdays from 9am to 8pm.
I'm deaf but thanks anyway
If you select the ask an expert section then you can put your question in writing to the nurses.

Hello
I've only just seen your post. I wondered what your dad's "stats" were? I mean his age, his PSA and his Gleason Score (if he's had biopsies he should have a Gleason Score) and also his Staging.
If his bone scan was done recently and it showed no spread then that should be accurate, but I can understand why you might still be worried as I was, too, when I had my bone scan three years ago at the age of 58. That showed no spread to the bones and so far there still isn't any spread there. Is there something that's giving you cause for concern and making you think your dad's cancer has spread to his bones?
You'll hopefully get some more replies if you re-post your question in the Prostate Cancer thread,
Best Wishes
Jim
Hi I'm 69 and have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and am wanting to speak to someone who has experienced the same issues
Hello , I am one of the volunteer community champions and thought I might give a little help,
I can see your new to the site, have done your profile and joined the prostrate group, so well done. You’ve replied to this discussion in the chat group which is over three years old and some people may no longer be members here still.
My suggestion is to post a new post in the prostate group, you could read any of the recent discussions first in there to see if you want to join in and add your support, or start your own discussion introducing yourself and giving a bit about the issues that your having. I’ve put a link in to get you back to that group incase you’ve lost your way, I’ve done it to the discussion page instead of the latest activity so that you can have a look at the various discussions.

I hope this helps.
Take care KT
