Hello, I am new to all of this. I had a mastectomy and axillary clearance done yesterday, I am doing well at home but was interested in what support there is online to help me not feel so alone in this. I am 34 no family history of breast cancer, I cannot work out why I have it!

Hi Jem
yep. Shower and hair wash accomplished but feeling absolutely exhausted/drained today. I too am experiencing more discomfort in arm/chest wound area today. Mainly a numbness with the odd shooting/tingling sensation.
Breast care nurse called again. They want me to go go in tomorrow for drain check, although I’m not sure it will be removed yet (it will be 5 days post op tomorrow) as apparently my surgeon has said she wants it draining as little as possible -due to my relatively young age she doesn’t want the wound site distorting with any lumps and bumps if at all possible,
I was advised exercises 3x day but my surgeon also advised me to only do shoulder shrugs until drain out?

hello Nicky, well done on hair wash its the little things that make you feel human! yes i get shooting pains around my arm pit and top arm also feels like sunburn on my inner arm. can they not come out to see you? i wasnt advised anything really was all so rushed, i met a cancer nurse at my first appointment but havent heard or spoken to her since, the hospital is so mad with this virus i thinj that most of the staff are busy with that now. was told my results will take longer because they send them away now because lab is testing for corona now. i have started to feel scared again today, scared imnot going to be around to see my kids growing up etc, it scares the shit out of me and i have no answers so at the moment it feels totally possible to me that its bad news.
have you got any support at all?

Hello everyone,
I'm just joining today.
I'm 44, sporty, healthy (or not) no family history, had a mammogram in April which was fine. I had just started a new job in China last August and in November I found a lump and had surgery in Hong Kong in December. It was 9 cm, grade 3, stage 2a, DX oncogene 35%, in other words, fast growing and aggressive.
guess I was so busy with new life and job, I just didn’t notice and when I did, I could actually see it!!!
I came home at Christmas and stayed here for treatment - 8 cycles.
it’s hard for you all not knowing what is next and how to plan. Those have been the most difficult times for me - when I needed to know I was doing the right thing and everything was organised.
Hopefully things will be clear soon and we can all get on with the next steps but I think a lot of us are climbing the walls just now.
sending you healing and wellness wishes,
ED
