Hi all,

Everywhere I go all I hear is Coronavirus! Ive only just received my cancer diagnosis about 2 weeks ago and am so worried about my immunity dropping during chemo. I have children that go to school and a husband that works in an office so even if I self isolate I know there will be germs. Am I the only one worried about this?

As if we haven't already got enough on our plateRolling eyes.

Is there anyone who is starting chemo anytime soon? Any advice for how you may be preparing to go to and from hospital and take precautions at home? Or just any great advice would be much appreciated. XxxePrayPrayPrayPray

  • Hi Ju72,

Thank you for the well wishes for tomorrow. I have thought about the cold cap. It may or may not work but its definitely a try right? Did you have to pay for it separately? I mean is it available eon the NHS? Hop eyou are enjoying your Sunday and resting well.

Hi I'd say it's worth a try,  no idea if it will work for me as yet. It's just a matter of waiting to see how much hair loss I have. If you do not to try it , I did take plenty of pain killers before hand and during so I didnt get a headache at all. And yes available of the nhs .

    Take care

  • Hey all I would say deffo try the cold cap, for me it was totally bearable. I took paracetamol before hand. I definitely lost about 60% of my hair and a lot of the hair that didn’t fall out did snap off.... but... it has grown back soooo quickly and is now really thick , it was long but I’ve now had it cut short but I think the cold cap protected the follicles so it recovered much quicker . My Chemo finished in Jan 2020.
good luck with your treatments xxx

    Hi Jostar

I know it is very worrying with your family situation. I started my chemo on Monday and on a positive note I have to say my side effects have been minimal. Felt fuzzy headed for a couple of days. A couple of waves of nausea which was very quickly dealt with taking the meds. I know it will get tougher but it feels better to get one over with and know what to expect. I am self isolating but appreciate I don't have children and my husband has cancelled his work. Perhaps you could speak to your breast cancer nurse and you could get some reassurances from her of actions you need to take. I almost expected the medical team to postpone my treatment in the light of the virus but that wasn't on the agenda. Thinking of you sending bug hugs xx

  • Thank you for the positive vibes. Yes I will definitely try and self isolate when it's time. Good luck with it all. HugsHuggingTwo heartsSparkling heart
