Hi Ive just had phone call from my BCN with my onctotype dx score which is 68 I am now on pathway for chemotherapy.

I am so  scared as result was so high, I know ive got to do what they suggest for me. Im just frightened of the unknown, dont know what to expect from it all. Scared that oncology is another two week wait, scared that its coming back with the score being that high ( which i know probably isnt true.)

Think because now chemotherapy is now part of my treatment im just so frightened.

Any advice anyone can suggest would be amazing

  • Hi
I am sorry you have been recommended to have chemo. Whilst it’s not going to be top of anyone’s lists of favourite things to do, it’s doable for most of us. For me, it brought some achiness and some diarrhoea, but I felt well on more days than not. I did lose my hair and it messed with my sense of taste, but these things come back. I found the really important thing was to stay well hydrated and to just try to pace myself a bit. It’s a one day at a time thing.

  • Just wondering between surgery and the start of chemotherapy what is the time frame. I got the phone call Wednesday with oncotype score and was told oncology appointment within 2-3 weeks then will be a couple weeks before treatment begins. Worried now because next weeks will be 7 weeks post surgery and with a high grade high oncotype score is this too long a wait

  • It sounds like they needed your oncotype score to decide whether chemo would be beneficial, and having decided it would, they have you scheduled.
