Hi

I'm starting chemo sometime in January. The anxiety the waiting is causing is unreal. I’m just wondering did anyone use a special pillow case and if so did it help ?

  • Hi Nanam630fc2,

What do you mean by a special pillow case?

Sending lots of love your way!

  • I’ve read about silk pillow cases and others that say they help with heart loss and breakage. I wondered if people found this to be the case and if it was worth buying one.

  • Hi there

I am just about to have my last round of chemo - which will be my 6th! I have had a silk pillow case the whole way through and no hair has fallen out in bed - it's mainly when I brush. I did cold cap and my hair was thin to start with but I have enough to look normal from the front and I wear headbands to cover a bald patch I have. I had 3 x EC and I am having my last of 3 x Docetaxel on Monday.

The worst thing about chemo is the unknown - once you get into it it's not as bad as you think and most days are good.

    Good luck

  • I've just had my second session of chemo. I completely agree with you about the anxiety. Mine was so bad before I started. So far, it really isn't as bad as I expected. I am cold capping and I have a silk pillowcase but I am trying to stay realistic and prepare myself that some hair will fall out by the end of this week.

Once you start I promise the fear of the unknown will take a weight off. Sending lots of love xx

  • So great to read this - seems like you have chemo well under control so far!

I still have this to come and am definitely planning on freaking out on at least multiple occasions before I start so will refer back to your soothing words for grounding purposes during the dark times. Laughing

  • Me too. Hopefully starting  the next couple of weeks. Trying to sort out a wig. Thank you for all the replies and words of encouragement . It’s so daunting .
