Sorry, I feel like an imposter here as I have not been diagnosed yet
i have been told I have bilateral complex ovarian cysts and I am freaking out. Consultant has said she’s not worried, they are going to remove them, along with appendix? She has said I have a 15% chance of malignancy which everyone thinks is great….apart from me!
one cyst is 8cm, other is 4.5cm
I am 55, post menopausal with hysterectomy in 2009.
I am just after some opinions….

You’re not an imposter; we’re here for anyone worried about or affected by cancer.
Freaking out is a natural reaction to what you’re going through. I appreciate why everyone thinks the 15% chance of malignancy is great. That means out of 100 people in this situation, only 15 will be diagnosed with cancer.
However, seeing beyond the possibility of a cancer diagnosis can be tough for many. Regardless of the statistics.
As we are independent of the NHS, we do not have access to medical records or information so are unable to offer opinions about individuals diagnoses and treatment, but we can provide general information and support.
Only your consultant can explain why they’re recommending removal of your appendix along with these cysts. We’d recommend contacting them by calling their secretary as getting more information may help to reassure you about the treatment plan. You don’t have to wait until your next appointment.
