  • Dear Koyal,

Thanks for getting in touch through our online community. I’m Helen and I’m one of the Macmillan cancer information nurse specialists on our support line. I see you’ve joined our bowel cancer forum; I hope you are finding it a supportive environment.

I’m sorry to hear you are having problems with leaking from your urostomy. It’s difficult to say why this problem may have started so long after you had your urostomy formed.

If you still have the contact details for the stoma nurse who supported you when it was first formed, it would be worth giving them a call, to obtain their advice. If you no longer have their number, your GP can refer you back to their service.

The Urostomy Association have produced these top tips to reduce leakage and three simple steps to prevent leakage.

For further support you could also contact dansac and Hollister directly, for advice about their products.

You can also reach out to the members of our ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy or stoma group on our online community for support and suggestions.

I hope you found this information helpful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in contact with us if you need further information or support.

    Best wishes

    Helen K
