Hello Maci
Thank you for contacting Macmillan. My name is Helen; I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.
I see that you have joined the prostate and bladder cancer forums and hope you have found the community warm and welcoming.
I was sorry to read that you are having difficulties in getting an erection. This is not uncommon, but it is upsetting, nevertheless.
I am popping a link here regarding erectile dysfunction and ways in which the situation might be improved. Certainly, Viagra has a place but there are other suggestions to consider in conversation with your urology team or your GP.
In addition, you may not know that our friends at Prostate Cancer UK have a dedicated support service for those experiencing erection difficulties. It's a free service and might be very helpful to chat through your situation as I can appreciate that the treatments suggested might be new to you and perhaps even a little alarming.
I hope this is useful and you can get the necessary support, Maci.
Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. You can speak with the Macmillan Support Line on 0800 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm. Or you are very welcome to chat to us via webchat.
