SCC and pain on left side above hip

Hi, I am waiting for my first face to face next Tuesday. The Doctor suspects an SCC on my calf. I have gotten used to the news now but yesterday I started getting a bit of pain on left side of stomach. There is a small marble sized lump which was tender to touch. The pain has eased today but I get a small burning/pinching sensation there every now and again. Just wondering if I should do anything or just wait until Tuesday.  It has just started up all the worrying again

Thanks

  • Dear Rower,

My name is Liz, and I’m one of the cancer information nurse specialists on the Macmillan support line.

Thank you for reaching out for information as you wait for an appointment on Tuesday to assess you for a SCC on your calf.

Whilst you wait for your appointment it is really important that you keep yourself well, therefore I would advise you to contact your GP straight away, if you are unable to speak to your GP you should contact 111 today.

The pain and slight swelling you have experienced might be totally unrelated to your leg, but it is still really important to get it checked today.

Although the nurses on the support line are not part of the NHS or have access to your  medical records, we would be more than happy to talk things through with you and provide a listening ear if you would like to call us.

    Take care.
