  • Dear Chelseagirl,

Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to our online community. I can see you have joined a couple of our breast cancer forums, and I hope you find it a helpful and supportive way to communicate with others. My name is Joanne and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist’s on the  Macmillan Support Line

I can only imagine how worried you must be feeling with your CT results. Whenever any abnormality is detected, it is frightening but when someone has a cancer history it is common to think the nodules must the cancer returning.

Lobulated nodules could be one of 3 things, a recurrence of your TNBC, and new primary lung cancer or completely benign and not a cause for concern. Lung nodules develop in healthy individuals for many reasons and never require treatment. The important thing is they have been detected and can now be investigated. Try to remind yourself that even if these nodules contain cancer cells, your specialist team will formulate a treatment plan.

Waiting for tests and results can be a very anxious time. Try to find ways to manage your fears, distraction, keeping busy or relaxation techniques can help. I also wonder if you might benefit from giving our support line a call. We often find we can explain our answers in a bit more detail over the phone, giving you the opportunity to ask more questions if needed. It can be very overwhelming not knowing how things might affect you moving forward. And although we can’t tell you exactly what to expect, we can help explain what usually happens for most people in a similar situation.

I hope this information is helpful and if there is anything else we can help you with please, feel free to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    Joanne, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
